i made myself take pictures before i left the house the other day.

it's been a while since i've taken pictures of myself

and let's be honest...

you feel kind of dumb taking pictures of yourself.

like, what face am i supposed to be making?

am i supposed to look like a model?

(cause we all know that's far from reality)

am i supposed to look care free and happy?

(because it's just me and me camera and if i smile it usually looks fake)

so i jumped in with this winner:

that doesn't even deserve to be called a sweater!

(btw:this is my new backyard...cool, i know)

then i finished off my photo sesh with these two more sophisticated shots

shirt: kmart clearance (thanks selena gomez, you're the best), cardi+jeggings:old navy, boots:target

so my new years resolution to my wardrobe is to buy QUALITY not quantity.

it's really hard.

i went through this t-shirt/jeans/cardigan phase and i'm over it

so all i want to do is go to old navy and buy a bunch of blouses

(blouses=my fave)

but they always turn to crap after a couple months.

quality purchases take time.

i'm too into instant gratification.

what brands have stood the test of time for you?

here's my want list to add to my wardrobe:

jbrand black skinny jeans(elaine, you convinced me)

quality jeans in general...i haven't spent over $19 on jeans in like 10 years

a silk blouse from jcrew

a cashmere shawl collar pullover from jcrew

(in like 5 colors but lets be honest...i'll be happy if i get one color)

eshakti dresses

frye boots or something equal to the quality...but not the price, ouch.

that's all i can think of right now.

that was cool.

we've had about a bajillion (real word, seriously)

things happen in our family

that has prevented me from caring enough to write.

sorry, that's my truth.

we moved...across town...into a house.

oh blessed house, how i love you.

it was really quick,

really unexpected and has been

a really great blessing for our family.

there will be lots of updating in our new place

so i've been reading every blog/site/google search

having to do with diy's and home improvement...

...it's totally my new thing.

i've felt little need to get dressed,

i ran out of my make-up/foundation/powder mineral stuff last week.

i'm feeling very imperfect in my face skin region.

what better to distract than by wearing bright reddish orange lipstick?

i can't believe this is the outfit i'm wearing today,

when i finally take pictures it's because i have nothing to do

and when i have nothing to do i don't really care what i'm wearing...

so this outfit is not the best.

but it doesn't matter because we're talking about my new lipstick.

this is the 2nd lipstick i've ever purchased.

are you a lipstick wearer?

i'm kissing my muscle baby too much to wear lipstick or anything much more than chapstick.

also i feel silly when i have lipstick on

like i'm getting ready for a play

or that i want everyone to stare at my awesome lips.

(my lips aren't that awesome)

i'm more of an event lipstick wearer...like when i'm shopping.

wearing my new sweater...again.

i wish it was a nice sweater from a nice store.

i had a convo with my bff the other day about the fact that her

mother-in-law still has clothes and shoes from the 80's

that have lasted through decades.

decades people, decades.

not only have her pieces come back in style but they have lasted!

i buy new clothes every season.

(i'm not sure if this is want or need but, it still happens)

and about a thousand years ago

elaine mentioned that her black jbrand jeans were

still black after a year of use.

and that's when i set a goal to fit into and buy a pair of jbrand jeans.

and then there was a post on her

blog yesterday here

about buying a more luxe piece that will last years...it makes cents

(get it...get it...omg)

anyway, i've been thinking about this concept for the last

year or so...

i've been avoiding purchasing investment pieces

because i would like to reach my optimal

fitness level...but that's always a work in progress.

and if i wait till...whenever then i'm just waiting.

anyway my point:

i'm going to start getting investment pieces over the next year

and only supplementing my wardrobe

with low cost trendy pieces seasonally.

challenge excepted.

until then, i'm wearing my cheap sweater

that looks like i've had it for 5 years after about 4 weeks.
it mostly bums me out because

i loooove this sweater, if i could find an equal that's great quality

i would spend good money on it.

i'm having hair issues.
so i bought some of those stretchy headbands.

i don't actually think it will solve my problem but my hair looks dressy.

i really need to start taking more pictures of my outfits.

i've had some cute things on in the last few weeks

(if i do say so myself!)

but i lack the motivation to set up my tripod and click.

i love it.

i've gotten so many great ideas for tons of different things.

i go through my pin boards every few weeks to remember outfits that i've pinned from others.

i went through my "for the love of clothes" board before i went

shopping last week.

(thank you birthday money!)

here are my tips for shopping:

1. if you have kids, go without them...you can not get done what you need to with kids.

2. wear something easy to take on and off and where bottoms that you normally wear

(ie: your fav jeans)

3. grab what you like..anything that gets your attention grab it then

4. go in waves, if you have 10/15 items (there's usually some cut off for dressing rooms), take not of where you are in the store, go to the nearest dressing room try on (with tips from below) and then start back in the store where you ended.

5. divide your dressing room into "yes" and "no" choices

6. start with tops(b/c you're already wearing your fav bottoms), put them on, if you love the way it looks on you, it's a yes. if you don't like it, take it off and put it in the "no" pile...if you don't like it right away, don't convince yourself you will. you wont. save yourself some time and brain power.

7. put your yeses in your cart/bag and continue until you're done with what you want from the store

now, if you have a budget

(which, who doesn't?)

go back with all your yeses and try it all on again and make another "yes" and "no" pile.

this time, yes, for things that will be the most interchangeable in your wardrobe.

(or for the ones that you feel fabulous in...that too is important)

usually when you go shopping it's because you're lacking something in your wardrobe.

go with a plan in mind.

i usually:

go to the stores website before i shop and find things that i like or want to try on when i'm there.

i write down things that i feel like i could use/need or have been wanting to try.

(i have to write it down or i'll forget...yes i have the memory of an 85 year old...who isn't coherent)

so i went shopping last week.

alone.

it was the best birthday present ever!

anyway, i pre-looked online and had a few things that i wanted to grab for sure.

after about two hours in the store

(that's a guess...i wasn't keeping track of time)

and two trips to the dressing room

i came away with some things that my wardrobe was lacking for fall.

yay.

i can't really do necklaces with fat baby b/c the necklaces

get yanked on or crushed unto my clavicle and it's not worth wearing

even my post earrings seem to scrape up fat baby somehow

so i'm trying to look for new ways to dress up

my outfits without the jewelry that i love so dearly.

one of my ideas is to pick an outfit that's pretty fly on it's own.

i was reading some of my old posts....you know back when i posted on this blog.

and i came across this one about dressing for inside vs outside.

i have this blog in hope of inspiring moms (or just women in general)

to want to make an effort before they leave the house.

i think it's important to invest in yourself.

you feel better when you look good.

proper clothes that fit your body help you get there.

it's also an amazing lesson to teach your kids,

taking care of yourself = a good thing.

at the moment i have roughly 3 different outfits that i wear all the time.

seriously,

all.

the.

time.

not because i like to stick with what works.

trust me, if i had access to a credit card, i would have tons of clothes

and a husband that would probably have a heart attack.

all i can really afford is a few things every month,

i'm working on rebuilding my wardrobe.

over the last year or two

my weight has been all over the place

and i've been buying a lot of cheap things,

so after one season of wear they

are pretty much ready to be trashed.

also, i just had a baby.

i only own one pair of jeans right now.

one pair of jeggings.

a pair of bright red cords.

that's it for pants.

i have one shirt that i love and wear once a week

and possible two or three times if i haven't seen anyone i know.

i have a cardigan that i wear as a shirt.

and a handful of other shirts that i try and work in when i'm feeling like

everyone knows i wear the same shirt everyday.

mostly i feel guilt when i spend money on myself.

shocking, i know.

i feel like that new sweater i just bought could be 4 gallons of milk, 4 loafs of bread,

dinners for two nights and 2 boxes of cereal.

but then i have days when i'm sitting on my bed looking at my clothes

thinking, what am i supposed to wear today?

i already wore my favorite shirt twice in a row...now what?

it's a fine balance...that i have yet to master.

i struggle with spending money on myself too.

i also own 5 pairs of yoga pants, that i wear everyday.

you would only know that because...well, one, i just told you

but two, unless you come knocking on my door during the day

you would have no idea.

if you see me getting in my car, i (usually) do not have yoga pants on.

the only time i wear yoga pants out in public is if i'm going to the gym

or going on a late night fast food/grocery run.

dogs: this is a debate in our house, i say nay and everyone else says yay. we've never had a dog and i'm hoping to keep it that way, but lets face it, i'll be out voted at some point.

essential start to your day: checking my email. after i get eva's lunch packed and breakfast for the girls i usually sit down and do the computer thing for about an hour.

favorite color: green. i love all greens except for forest, not a fan of that one.

gold or silver: i like gold but i usually buy silvers. fun fact, just found out i'm allergic to zinc...unfortunate consequence, my wedding ring i've been wearing for the last 10+ years is now retired to a shelf. i love my ring, i need to find a cure.

nicknames: well my bff from childhood use to call me ricci (ricki) after christina ricci (ree-chi). we thought it was pronounced ricki, and my bff use to call me chrystina (again, another nickname, not my real name) so she shortened it to ricki for a long time. i still get mail from her that says chrystina on it. around our neighborhood we call each other by our last names.

overnight hospital stays: only after giving birth to my chitlins.

pet peeves: the list is long-ish. but my top peeves, my feet getting wet when i'm wearing sandals. people asking if i'm mad, when i'm not...it gets me mad. when people poke me, i don't know what it is about being poked by a finger but i really don't like it. delusional people...all though they also make great entertainment and make you feel super good about yourself. and also having to repeat myself, over and over and over. (this one comes once you have children)

x-rays you've had: my foot...i kept telling myself i had a hairline fracture (something i saw on the biggest loser..i may have a smidgen of hypochondria)...yeah, it was nothing, i got the prescription of eating lots of advil...thanks for that $200 bill to tell me to eat more advil.

yummy food you make: this list is also pretty long. just kidding. my husband recently told me that i'm a good cook. we've been married for 9.5 years and he told me a few weeks ago that i'm a good cook. i can't even tell you how good that made me feel. i really like cooking and it feels so good when someone compliments you on something you think you're good at. i made meatloaf for the second time in my life last night (i'm not a fan, so we don't eat it) and this was the first time it was my own recipe...they all loved it. #bigsmile

what does that mean?

i feel like if i say white-hispanic
i'm being dishonest too, because i don't really know anything about being
hispanic, besides having a mexican last name and liking mexican food.

that have had this problem?

i recieved an email from a new mama

looking for some ideas on how to keep her already big lady bumps less...obvious.

she already has a big chest and milk supply pretty much doubles and sometimes triples that area. yay...not.

i feel your pain mama...it feels like there's little renesme's in your chest

trying to claw their way out.

i just kept it real.

so, i'm not too privy on what will absolutely work, just some basic ideas

that should give an optical illusion,

you will of course have to try these on your frame to see if it works.

but i do have some definite

no's.

you want to keep a vertical line adding optical length and the
appearance of more height.
i think an open cardi or vest could add great length.
but you have to choose the correct type.
nothing too bulky that will just add more volume.
no crazy pattern, like horizontal stripes, no thanks.
no ruffly goodness up top.
and do not button it over your chest, it will pull and just add more attention.

with basic shirt options you want to probably keep it loose
but not too loose, not boxy, loose but modern.
breezy.
i sound like an idiot.
just like my example k?
there, that's much easier.

say no to plunging necklines and see-through whites.
(i know the plunging necklines seems like a no-brainer but
a v-neck can elongate very well...but with milk boobies that big
i'm guess the cleavage starts pretty close to your collar bone)
no to crewnecks...they are not flattering on a chesty mrs.
and of course no to anything that adds extra volume:
ruffles
embellishments
pockets

say yes to drawing attention elsewhere.
like your bottom half, that's right, i said it.
a great floral skirt (or some other busy pattern) will draw the eye down.
add some fun tights and shoes and no one will be looking at ginger and mary-ann.
also, keeping attention at your face, with some small dangle earrings
or more likely, some fun post earrings, once those babies start grabbing
dangle earrings become a back drawer item.

and the last thing you want to do is get dressed?

yes, i know you know what i'm talking about.

those are the days that i strive to get dressed and make an effort.

i felt like blah-blahbity-blah today.

so i wore this blazer that i bought a few months back.

that's right, 2 years after the trend i finally bought a blazer.

(blazer: thrift store tank: target jeans: old navy boots: target)

i don't love my hair...it was super severe and i felt like

"mean mommy" at the grocery store.

speaking of the grocery store:

there's only one cart at the grocery store that my fat baby fits in...and it was taken.

so my 7 year old pushed the cart

while my 4 year old followed me

and i held said fat baby...all 20+lbs of him.

it was a really quick trip,

so that was a plus

another plus?

i was sweating so hard that i probably lost 4lbs.

the minute we got home i took all my ~~sweat soaked~~ clothes off immediately

and put on a t-shirt and yoga pants.

and i thought to myself...i looked pretty great for a mom of three at the grocery store

with all my little minions...i mean children...being so obedient and helpful.

i think the severe bun really put off this whole mommy dearest vibe

and people thought i was one of "those" moms.

i kind of liked it.

you don't know me hippies at the grocery store!

over exposed

have you ever had a major fail at the salon?

even though my hair was "fixed"

i'm still a little miffed:

if it was done right the first time my hair would still be considered healthy

it's still blotchy

(but 1000x's better than it was)

it took a lot of hours...and ditching of my children...which i'm not a huge fan of.

what i've learned:

you don't necessarily need to get your hair cut and colored by the same person

it's ok to go to two different people

you get what you pay for...so might as well go to the best the first time
(especially if you have a difficult color to achieve)

i'd rather spend $$ on a plane ticket and go to so-cal and visit my family and have my aunt do my hair.

my hair appt was yesterday.

it didn't go so great.

i'm not sure if it was my fault or his but i thought,

"i want ombre hair" was pretty universal.

maybe the picture i brought was too...i don't even know.

so i look like a modern day cruela de ville...in a so not cool way.

i woke up a little after 5am to feed jj and i couldn't go back to sleep

because all i could think about was how my hair is an

epic fail.

i'm going back...don't worry.

i just feel bad that it didn't turn out right in the first place...i was there for 4 hours.

and left...frustrated.

until then...this is what i wore yesterday:

but honestly they aren't an everyday shoe for my life.

as i was falling asleep saturday night i couldn't help but think about

the fact that i have close to zero church clothes.

i did buy a couple dresses the other day

(hopefully my husband isn't reading this)

but it's a pain to wear a dress when you're nursing.

so i was dreaming about this maxi dress i have that would be super easy to nurse in.

and i pictured it with my chambray shirt...tied in a knot.

this is what i came up with:

unfortch, after i saw this i thought i looked like a totem:

i also notice that it might be time for me to get a more structured nursing bra,

the girls looks pretty low.

i've always had a straight up and down shape...not a lot of curve going on over here.

ie: no waist.

so, final thoughts on my outfit:

not super flattering to my particular shape

huge nursing mom points...it was so easy to nurse in this outfit!

tip:

i suck at knotting my shirt, espesh since i didn't have a lot of extra shirt to knot

(read: my shirt's smallish)

so i used one of my girls' clear hair ties...you know the ones that are supposed

to be ouchless but the pull the crap out of your hair.

it kept my knot tied and secure.

so here are my official thoughts:

i got a bunch of compliments when i wore this necklace
it came with earrings which was a surprise
it's delicate...not super strong
the round silver is brushed metal...love that look
it's not a mom friendly necklace
i kept getting it caught on things...kids hair, the carpet, my sweater
it broke after wearing it for an hour
i wish i would have doubled it up...it would have survived a lot longer
it is fixable...but i don't see my self fixing it

i wore a dress on sunday,

even though i'm nursing my bebe.

for those of you who haven't nursed a baby,

this means that I had to pull my dress all the way up to whip

out the milk for the little guy.

that's how i roll.

i thought about it before hand.

i figure i'm nursing him in a room with other mother's

i don't have anything they haven't already seen.

right?

plus i tried to keep myself semi modest by putting a blanket over my legs.

anyway, here's me...in clothes...my hair is washed...i have make-up on,

it's the trifecta.

flattering jeans

cute hairstyles that are easy, fo shizz

under eye make-up...it pays to pay for the nice stuff

eyelash curler

double extend mascara

a basic white eyeshadow

this "style" isn't exclusive to just new mama's

this is kind of universal how to look cute

but

these things are key if you want to look descent in public after making the ultimate bodily sacrifice.

if you don't care...don't worry, it's your perogative after pushing out a giant baby.

i'm pretty sure you have an out for the next 12 months

but no one takes the whole 12 months.

eventually you will care about feeling cute again on the outside.

right about now i'm having haircut remorse.

i chopped a good 4 inches off before i had mr.jj, thinking that it would be easier to manage.

i'm an idiot.

all i can do is wear my hair up and now it looks extra lame

because my hair isn't long enough to wear on top of my head

like all the cool kids are.

it's that time of year again...

well, not where i live...it's a balmy 50 degrees outside and it's rainy.

blah.

but it other parts of the world there's actually sun shining and it's

dare i say, warm?

one lucky lady who lives where the sun is making an appearance asks:

I'm wondering if you have any ideas for some awesome summer shirts.

By that I mean shirts

that I don't have to layer over or under to make modest.

Are there actually any tops that are both long

and high enough to not require an undershirt,

and that aren't see-through when not layered?

I guess, alternatively, are there some rules for summer layering

that avoid that too-hot-in-so-many-layers thing?

The only thing I can think of are scrub tops,

and as temping as it was to send you a

"How to wear scrub shirts" question instead,

that didn't seem like the best idea.

first, you better be joking about the scrub top.
i will give you situations when scrub tops are ok:
1. you are a doctor
2. you are a nurse
3. you HAVE to wear it to work for whatever reason
4.you are an extra on grey's and it's part of your costume.
and those are all the reasons you ever wear a scrub top out in public.
all of them. the. end.

onward, it is indeed a challenge to find modest summer tops.

but with a little creativity we could come up with

a few ideas.

i must begin by saying, it's really hard for me personally not to layer,

no matter the season.

i like to wear light airy shirts and that usually equals see-through

which of course translates to an undershirt of some sort.

here are a few options:

half tees.

heard of them? they are a company that

makes a top modest with half the fabric.

these are ideal for tank top options in the summer.

flowy, gauzy, billowy shirts.

these tops range from a little to mostly see-through.

which of course requires and undershirt of some sort.

choosing a top with a pattern or colored can

make it less see through.

if you're wearing a see-through top and have to wear a tank

underneath...it's basically the same

as wearing a tank clothing wise, right?

if your top layer is light then it kind of evens out to one layer.

that's math, you can't deny numbers.

another option is a lightweight cardigan

one that is short sleeve or half sleeve.

there are a lot of crochet options this summer too,

it's on trend and has plenty of air flow potential.

another breezy basic could be a tunic + cropped jeans or leggings:

i think we can all agree the best insta-cooling clothes are
dresses and skirts.
pairing something like the half tee with a summer dress
can open your options to all the less modest
summer dresses that fill the stores.

i hope that helps get your creative juices flowing
towards ideas of your very own...or some you can borrow. :)

i think black is automatically thought of as dressier...espesh when it's a dress.
i think a big part of keeping it casual is:

try and find some cheap undershirts and buy them in a couple colors.

so jj has been on the biliblanket for the past 5 days

yesterday was his two week appt. and it

was only my second outing since he was born.

buuuuuuut

i haven't taken pictures of all of them.

i vowed to do better this time around on the 30 for 30

so i will get all the pictures taken...at some point.

the time has come where both

pairs of my jeans have become really uncomfortable to wear.

i envy my smaller first pregnancy.

so i'll be sporting leggings or yoga pants from here on out

i mean it's kind of hard not to be cute when i am in fact cute.

actually i consider myself pretty hot

but when i'm pregnant i go for cute...it seems more fitting.

this is the day i dropped my daughter off at preschool

and went to get a pedicure!

it was my first pedi ever and it was so great.

the girl that i got was so easy to talk to and we had a lot in common.

i think i'll go back in a few weeks right before i have this bebe.

i saw a friend there and she said she recognized we right away because

of my neon cardigan!

gotta love it.

next up is today's sunday outfit

you probably wouldn't know unless i told you

but this shirt isn't in my 30....well...it is now

but originally i ordered this super cute red tunic from old navy

but they sent me leggings instead

i decided i didn't have enough time left in this pregnancy to

try and return the leggings to get the tunic

so i found this shirt the other day

under a pile of crap...

i mean,

in my super clean room,

and it's my new sub for bright red awesome tunic i'll never know.

sigh.

and since i didn't announce it on friday:

that's right people,

i've got an official 5 weeks left, but i'm hoping for an unofficial 4 weeks.

we'll see.

and it's horrid quality.

but i really loved this outfit...i don't think this picture did it justice.

also it's a horrible angle for my very round face,

my camera battery died a couple days ago.

obviously the simple solution is to charge it.

it took me a while.

my girls had a snow day today.

and i knew i wanted to be as comfortable as possible,

oh yeah, everyone.

well...to quote my daughter's 1st grade class:

"you get what you get and you don't throw a fit."

it was either pictures at 1pm or no pictures at all.

oh, that one was just because i like to think i know how photoshop works...

turns out,

i don't.

so i went to target earlier today...it was a super quick trip.

when i got home and sat down i noticed the zipper on one of my boots

was halfway down.

i was pretty embarrassed for about 60 seconds,

all i could think of was that all the people that saw me at target probably thought i was

too pregnant and helpless to zip my boots up all the way

my calf was so huge that this mere zipper couldn't handle the mass.

then i got over it, too late now.

i have to still take pictures of my

17,18 and 19.

turns out i was too lazy to even take pictures this weekend.

that's the reality folks.

this is what you wear to a 1st grade field trip

don't i look positively glowing?

eh, it's the setting on my camera, i tried a bunch of different things so i wouldn't be

glowing...but instead they all came out semi-ok and fuzzy.

i know you're blown away with my photo skills.

so i walked around with a 1st grade group for a few hours at our local hospital.

that's why i wore my comfy boots...i wanted to wear my brown boots

but i thought i'd be selfish today and go with comfy...and a ponytail.

p.s this was after the field trip...with no nap...i still have yet to nap.

so i decided i should get my bum off my couch and take my pictures

then the lawn crew drove up so i got outside

as quick as my pregnant self could.

i took about 4 pictures

it was cold and windy

and then it started to rain.

so these aren't the best...my shirt is all messed up in most of them.

oh well.

i already took my boots off,

so no chance of a re-shoot.

i have no where to go till 7pm tonight so i will be wearing my house slippers until then.

i planned on taking my pictures indoors today,

it's been pouring all-day-long.

i almost forgot i live in oregon...luckily we have days like this and it all comes screaming back.

then there was a break in rain, and a little ray of sunshine

came to say hello.

i had a dr.'s appt. today.

yeah, that's the end of my story.

i like this outfit, it's comfortable, the design on the shirt

is colorful and i like my accessories...i think they keep it fun and put together.

i turned 13 on friday the 13th IN OCTOBER.

the debut of my upper arms

about a 1/4 of my pregnancy weight goes to my upper arms.

i first discovered this when i was about 4/5 months pregnant with my first daughter

and on my arm very close to my armpit a very little line appeared,

it was my first stretch mark.

i thought i was home free with that little sucker...little did i know

overnight

(literally)

i would sprout a parentheses of stretch marks coddling my belly button.

you win some, you lose some.

point:

(yes, i have one)

i like to hide my upper arms, especially whilst packing a baby.

that's why you usually see me with a cardigan or shirt that covers my guns.

(by guns i mean soft fleshy rippling flab...it's a term of endearment)

my hair is still a bit damp in these pictures,

however i did use my new styling gel again today.

this is my attempt at showing off my sweet shirt detail...it means i don't have to wear any other accessory if i don't want to because my shirt is already decorated.

i am wearing bracelets but i have to say

i think i may be a cuff girl at heart.

the sun came out so i thought i'd give you the glow.

plus it hides my panty lines...yes, that is how high my underwear are right now.

note to self: put a tank under this if you go out in public.

so i've been wearing my hair curly lately...have you noticed?

i don't have the energy to straighten it.

my hair has gotten more curly with each pregnancy

so i've decided to embrace it.

i was reading angela's blog and came across this

hair tutorial by katherine of thrifted finds

i decided then and there

i would go and find some products that would help me enhance my mexican curl.

go and read katherine's tutorial real quick, it's super cute with pictures, which i love, and it's easy peasy.

i don't usually brush my hair anyway- one of katherine's suggestions.

i took some time looking through different products at

my local k-mart (classy, i know)

and came across this:

i've noticed with my own hair that it responds better to serum based

products (opposed to cream ones) so i thought this would be a good starter choice.

i hate spending money on things that might not work

(it feels like such a waste)

but lucky for me, this stuff is working for me and i really love it.

i've followed the directions for the most part:

spray on hands, rub hands together, apply to hair.

but the other day i just sprayed it in my hair (all over) and scrunched it from there,

i liked the results much better...i have super thick hair and i think the product

was able to get to more of my hair spraying it directly on.

i have yet to use my diffuser like katherine suggests, i usually just let it air dry

like i said, zero energy to do my hair these days.

i tried to get the sunsilk de-frizzer that katherine uses but it was nowhere to be found,

weird.

i picked up this l'oreal vive pro stuff this weekend

it sounds like the perfect blend between anti-frizz and shiny locks...

which i think curly hair needs...it's hard making curly hair look glossy and fab.

we'll see how it works this week and i'll give a little review after i've used it a few times.

i decided to take weekend pictures.

i wanted to wear a pair of my boots...but then i thought i should keep it real,

if i'm out running errands with one of my kids

i'm going to want to wear my warm boots...which are of course in my 30.

i'm not sure what's up with my buck tooth smile...but just go with it.

once i saw this picture i decided to put my hair up real quick

also, i was going outside to take my pictures and it was so windy!

there's no way i could've gotten a decent picture

so inside was my only choice.

this shirt looked a lot darker and brighter online

(i'm pretty sure darker and brighter is an oxymoron).

this guy that lives behind us was cleaning his bbq when i went to take pictures.

so i waited a few minutes until i thought he was gone.

turns out he was sitting quietly playing with his dog in their backyard.

i took the weekend off.

this outfit definitely brightened up my monday.

i went out in public for a total of 25 minutes

and 24 minutes of that was sitting in

my car.

i have several problems with my outfit today.

1. my "black" shirt is not the black shirt i picked out for

my 30. the one i picked was no where to be

found...also i didn't look super hard

but still...frustration.

2. i hate my necklace with this outfit

3. i could barely pull these jeans on after i washed them

see...this is why i never wash my clothes.

4. this is not what i wanted to wear.

my old navy clothes (read: 90% of my 30)

still hasn't come yet.

the tracking said today...so i waited till the last possible

second to get dress...and this is what i came up with.

i took these pictures after trying to take a nap for

5 minutes with no success.

these boots were itching my legs so bad

i couldn't fall asleep.

i really love the pictures on

some of the style blogs i follow...

they have to know certain tricks that i don't

or i just suck at taking pics

of myself.

of course if someone was taking my pics

they would be a lot better, and i'd probably be in focus.

so i experimented with lighting today.

this is how dark my house is

1/30 winter edition

and so it begins.

i have yet to take pictures of my 30/30.

but you have seen the 7 shirts

from yesterday, those will all be in it.

plus a new dress i ordered too

and some other stuff.

blah, blah, blah.

i'll take pictures tonight...promise.

the sun is shining today.

not that it's warm out

but it looks gorgeous outside.

yesterday it was cold...ridic cold

and gray and gloomy.

i like to refer to oregon as the bi-polar state

when it comes to weather.

anyway.

outfit numero uno:

remember the other day when i showed how

to make an outfit with a white shirt and jeans?

well bam.

here's my white shirt and jeans look.

confession:

i wore this yesterday and i'm wearing it again today.

i wore it like this yesterday:

i didn't go anywhere yesterday till close to 8pm

and only two people i know saw me.

my day is pretty much the same today

all though i will be grocery shopping at some point

and taking my husband's great aunt shopping as well.

side shot:

30 weeks people...30 weeks.

but today i will be wearing it like this:

this is a diy scarf.

it use to be the band of a drop waist dress.

i just cut the skirt part off to make a shirt

and realized that i made a scarf in the process.

i know...i'm like a mad craft genius.

this is the reason that i was back in those trees.

too much sunshine!

also my normal "standing in my back yard" shot

was occupied by my neighbors

lawn chairs sprawled all over the yard.

i didn't exactly feel like cleaning up after them

so you get the "rent a party house for a weekend" house

in the background.

i'm highly aware that i'm wearing

no pop of color.

normally i'd wear some bright yellow studs or something

to that effect...but...i'm just sitting around my house

so the effort feels a bit fake.

maybe when i go to pick up my oldest from school

but even then, they've created this new amazing system

where you don't even have to get out of your car.

ahhh, America...thanks for keeping me lazy.

so here are the new shirts coming to me in a few days:

like i said, i'm going to have to focus on

being cute and super pregnancy

instead of creative.

here's my question, do you think i should put them all in

for my 30/30?

i'm leaning towards yes

because:

a. i don't have a lot of bottoms

and

b. i don't have a lot of shoes

to put into the remix.

so if i do these 7 shirts

i have 4 bottoms

3 pairs of shoes (sad, i know)

that gives me 16 more pieces to work with.

i think i could make that work with

undershirts, more t-shirts and cardigans.

i probably could have thought this out without

typing up an actual post...but i was really excited for

you to see what i got online!

i don't think i mentioned that i will be doing

kendi's 30 for 30 again.

it starts tomorrow and i'm still not sure what

i'm putting in the mix.

as much as i'd like to be creative with my

choices and have ton's of fun layering pieces.

it's just not in the cards for someone

who's in her last trimester.

buuuuut, i think it's a good opportunity

to look cute whilst becoming a giant person.

point:

i'm probably going to look like i'm

wearing the same 30 pieces for 30 days.

not a lot of options for a wardrobe that's only supposed to

last me for the next few months.

of course that never stopped me from a ~~small~~ shopping spree.

part of the reason i haven't decided what to put in the remix

is because i have online shopped and not all my pieces

are in my possession.

but since i have a limited amount of bottoms to begin with

i'll go ahead and reveal those now:

l to r: old navy denim pencil skirt, gap skinny maternity jeans, liz lange boot cut jeans and old navy leggings.

buy: skirt, skinny, bootcut, leggings

but when it comes to tops it's still up in the air.

i'll come up with the final cut tonight and post pics

tonight or tomorrow morning along with

my first outfit.

i also only have 3 pairs of shoes for the remix too.

i wish i had some cute flats

but when i invited myself, my youngest and the girl

i babysit to be dropped off at the mall while my husband

goes to a meeting...i got denied.

shocking, i know.

phew.

in the mean time here's a top that didn't make the cut:

mostly because it's such a bold shirt

i don't think there's anyway i could really mix it in.

if i wasn't wearing paneled pants i could

probably tuck it in somehow,

or if i had a sweater vest to wear over it

that could be cute too,

but i don't have those things.

and of course, the side shot.
