i made myself take pictures before i left the house the other day.
you're welcome.
it's been a while since i've taken pictures of myself
and let's be honest...
you feel kind of dumb taking pictures of yourself.
like, what face am i supposed to be making?
am i supposed to look like a model?
(cause we all know that's far from reality)
am i supposed to look care free and happy?
(because it's just me and me camera and if i smile it usually looks fake)
so i jumped in with this winner:
look how thin that sweater is!
that doesn't even deserve to be called a sweater!
(btw:this is my new backyard...cool, i know)
then i finished off my photo sesh with these two more sophisticated shots
shirt: kmart clearance (thanks selena gomez, you're the best), cardi+jeggings:old navy, boots:target
so my new years resolution to my wardrobe is to buy QUALITY not quantity.
it's really hard.
i went through this t-shirt/jeans/cardigan phase and i'm over it
so all i want to do is go to old navy and buy a bunch of blouses
(blouses=my fave)
but they always turn to crap after a couple months.
quality purchases take time.
i'm too into instant gratification.
what brands have stood the test of time for you?
here's my want list to add to my wardrobe:
jbrand black skinny jeans(elaine, you convinced me)
quality jeans in general...i haven't spent over $19 on jeans in like 10 years
a silk blouse from jcrew
a cashmere shawl collar pullover from jcrew
(in like 5 colors but lets be honest...i'll be happy if i get one color)
eshakti dresses
frye boots or something equal to the quality...but not the price, ouch.
that's all i can think of right now.
all right, i'm off to the depot
(that's what "cool" people call home depot...i'm totally in the "in" crowd)
i like this outfit.love the ruffles on the shirt and the very thin cardigan gives a nice touch. i too am stuck in the tshirt, cardi, jeans and boots phase. maybe i will be until spring comes again. its too comfortable!
ReplyDelete1. When you go to J. crew, go with me. With my student ID I get 15% off of everything! I have lots of stuff in my closet from them and it lasts forever, plus I dont know the last time I've bought anything there full price because I always shop clearance.
ReplyDelete2. Come to my store and try on some Silver brand jeans. They last forever and dont stretch out in your butt and thigh region. I love 'em. Plus i'll give youa discount. I havent gotten up to that point in my life where i've spent a lot of money on jeans. Im at like the $80 range. Bonus, its impossible to buy clothes for Geoff and I finally found a brand that works for him, and they cost more than I have EVER spent on jeans. its insane.
3. Buy Fryes! You know you want to! Go to Shoes.com and you can always get a discount. The only downside is that since you spent so much money on them, you have to pay for the upkeep every year. I spend around $30 a pair to get the soles done and the heels restacked. Oh and shop for them during Nordstrom's Anniversary sale and you can save around $100.
4. I need you to do a post on Maternity dresses for a Spring wedding.
YOU LOST WEIGHT!!! You look great, Christa!
ReplyDeleteBrands that have stood the test of time:
1. Nine West
2. Betsey Johnson
3. Liz Claiborne
4. Ann Taylor
5. Halogen by Nordstrom
6. JCRew
I hear you re: Old Navy. Their clothes are cheaply made and are messed up, faded, or shredded to bits in no time flat. :( My goal for 2012 is to by quality items, also.
This might sound crazy... bare with me... but I have gotten some really nice pieces at TALBOTS! I know, super weird, but I wear my Talbots faux chanel blazer with a nice pair of ripped up jeans and people always think I'm Ashley Olsen. I want to go shopping with Katie! Oh, and ASOS for maternity clothes, but be careful, there is such a huge range in quality it's really hit or miss, but I think the returns are free. Cool blog, Krista. Proud to say I knew you when: )
ReplyDeleteSorry I spelled your name wrong... it just came out. I'm a bad friend. This is Jacqui, btw.
